Did you see that many people are calling for fresh elections in Iran? I do not support this. Here’s why.
If this happens, there is one set of people that is going to have unlimited fun. These are the folks everyone hates. You JUST cannot like them. But try as you might, you won’t be able to stop them. They are the most selfish people around. They think it is all about them. They think they are doing the world a favor. In fact, I would call them narcissists. Not egotists, mind you. These people derive vicarious pleasure in hearing everyone talk about them. They must be stopped.
They are… the undecideds.
No, we don’t want them to have all the fun. Join me in denouncing fresh elections in Iran.

Free and fair elections form the very foundation of democracy. Only they will express the people’s will. Despite India’s being the largest democracy and having its own share of complex issues, our elections are generally considered free and fair. All the political parties had been frank in their admission that the parliamentary election held recently was a great job done by the Election Commission. This must be the benchmark for any democracy in the world. In India, Election Commission announces and conducts fresh voting in booths where rigging is alleged. Iran too can follow the same practice and I have read that they are already arranging it. If the alleged rigging is, however, not confined merely to a few booths but is widespread nationwide, the already declared results may not be a real reflection of the people’s will; a fresh election should alone be the solution under these circumstances. Ideally, Mr. Ahmedinejad, the winner, himself ought to have sought a fresh election nationwide as the people’s mandate he has now got is alleged and suspected to be a tainted one. The shadow of rigged elections will follow him everywhere and obstruct good governance. The stain can be washed off by a fresh mandate alone.
Am not sure I follow you here – i thought the issue was due to charges of elections being rigged in favor of Ahmedinejad.

OK, this is an attempt at humor gone horribly wrong.
In every election, there are people who are clear about which party they would vote for. And then there are undecided voters. In the US at least, candidates court these voters, who in many cases decide which way the election swings. But still, there are people who respond to opinion polls, even in the last week, saying they are undecided. Sections of the media slam (in good humor) these people, accusing them of being self-serving and wanting to be pampered.
I have nothing for or against Ahmedinejad. But I am amazed by the protests in Iran, in a pleasant way.
