The Dark Knight is quite good, though I am unsure if its current position (3rd) on IMDB’s Top 250 Movies of All Time is justifiable.

But this is the punch dialogue to end all punch dialogues… “You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Is Sachin Tendulkar listening? Batman, batsman, whatever.

Thank God, we lostWatching India "surrender meekly" to Sri Lanka last night made me think if we were extending "Aadi" courtesies to the Lankans - a straight 50% discount - 10 wickets for the price of 5.India should be the only team in the world which fields exactly 5 batsmen, 5 bowlers and a wicket-keeper. If we play one extra batsman, the fifth bowler finds himself carrying water bottles. Even Bangladesh and Kenya must be having one all-rounder worth the name. Our national...

The divine right?Peter Roebuck writes in The Hindu that Sachin Tendulkar should be picked in the Indian team without further ado, and that the master blaster should not be dropped until he claims himself that he is no longer fit to play. I'm a fan of both Tendulkar's swashbuckling batting and Mr. Roebuck's writing. I agree that in the overall scheme of things, we should welcome Tendulkar's return to fitness. I believe that he should be included; but this should not be...

The final ten has 5 cricketers from Australia (Warnie hasn't included his name in the list), but there are no prizes for guessing who's numero uno: You have to watch India in India truly to appreciate the pressure that Sachin Tendulkar is under every time he bats. Outside grounds, people wait until he goes in before paying to enter. They seem to want a wicket to...

That gives you the runs scored by Sachin Tendulkar, my favourite player and inarguably the world's best living cricketer, in his last 15 ODI innings. Hardly anything that displays consistency or lives up to the aura and halo we associate with name.Yet, an entire nation backs him each time he goes out to bat, while they will invent new reasons to deride Sourav Ganguly....

  5. 48 of the top 250 are movies that have released on or after 2000. Public memory is short and crowd-sourced ratings are often off the mark (that we would have set in our minds).

The Dark Knight is a good film but definitely not one to be ranked amongst the best. By the way, it has overtaken Titanic in BO collections.

  6. The Dark Knight, is one of the very few movies that challenge the audience to think. The Punch dialogue, and just the situations presented in general make us empathise to a great extent (considering we have face similar situations at least at a lesser level). This is one quality all classics, whether film or novel, presents.

I Recall a segment in the newspaper (Sydney Morning Herald), which apologies for doubting the audience’s capacity to take in the movie on both as an entertainment and an intellectual interaction. “An expected flop, turned out to be the best selling.”
