Yaaradi Nee Mohini
Watched this movie over the weekend. A few people had recommended this movie, and I also saw that the Telugu version (the original) was a huge success. Well, even if you went in with no expectations at all, you would feel let down. This movie was terribly boring!
It seemed to me that the crew had repackaged a run-of-the-mill 70s movie that is bereft of a storyline, but is full of empty sentiments and lovey-dovey feelings. It was really surprising that this bland script was penned by Selvaraghavan who has built an impressive resume of movies that are off the beaten track that are all critical successes. Nor was it a slickly made movie. And with a running time of just under 3 hours, it made you want to look at the clock every so often.
The first song, Engeyo paartha mayakkam, a visual and aural treat, was one of the few refreshing breaks in an otherwise disappointing movie!

Agreed 100%
Such a horrible movie and I regret for having watched it in a theater, that too, in US.
Even the first song wasn’t a consolation as Udit was murdering it :’(
I didn’t find it horribly boring or anything. Perhaps because my standards for watching aren’t that high.
What pissed me of is that for someone like Selvaraghavan, aspiring to focus on screenplay writing (remember having read in some interview of his in which he said something to the tune of - screenplay writing is a big industry in the west. i wish to focus myself on this more than direction), its such a poor one.
Never expected this one from Selva..:-( AMAV a Combo of Karan Johar and Vikraman Movies..But Sorry i liked the movie very much..(But i hate the Tamil Version) I’ve seen the AMAV 30+ TImes.Though i can easily judge the second half and climax i dint find the movie boring…Still i cant come out of Trisha..Deep Crush since Last April..Nayanthara cant even fit 50% of her…
Also Venky has done a neat job…Dunno why Vijay missed this good family entertainer If VIjay and Trisha has done in Tamil it can do better then dhanush and nayanthara….
Mahesh, are you sure Vijay would have fit the bill? My bet is he would have killed it with his over-acting and artificial dialogue delivery!
Agreed After Ghillie’s Success Vijay Repeats the Same Body Language in Comedy Sequences..Which irritates the Viewers. The Main Prob For Vijay doesn’t combines with great Directors(Excluding Fazil)As a Result he cant learn and go to next Level in Acting..Sadly Sailing in the Same Masala…Jus Imagine Surya B4 Nandha….Coming To Yaaradi..Its a Tailor Made Role which suits only For Vijay…Vaseegara a neat family entertainer is damn similiar to Yaaaradi…But Flopped due to Poor Marketing…Vijay did a neat job in it…
@Rams: I am absolutely, totally in love with that song. I have played it like a hundred times in the past 24 hours. Contemplating a post…
@Mahesh: I think Vijay missed the boat even before Gilli. He tried different roles before Gilli, but the movies flopped. After Gilli, he has lacked the confidence to branch out of the Gilli-ish roles. So now, he has got tangled in a self-created mess.
