Eight things

Been tagged after a long time. I didn’t think folks did this stuff any more. Anyways, here’s my dull list of eight things.

Eight things I’m passionate about:

  1. Random bits of information
  2. Work ;-)
  3. Soccer
  4. Music
  5. Religion
  6. New technology
  7. Computer games
  8. Arguing

Eight things I want to do before I die:

  1. Live until eighty!
  2. Kill people who send out lists such as this one
  3. Ride an airplane; as a pilot, that is
  4. Read Proust’s Remembrances of Things Past (After tasting the petite madeleine at Starbucks, and finding it not worth the hype, I am reconsidering this.) Learn to play the violin (though I like the flute better).
  5. Learn Spanish
  6. Learn to recite the “Divya Prabandham” from memory
  7. Watch a game at Old Trafford
  8. Not do anything stupid when attempting number 3

Eight things I say often:

  1. That is…
  2. Come on!
  3. WTH!
  4. Awesome!
  5. Cool
  6. KadavuLe! (Tamil equivalent of “Oh God!”)
  7. Really?
  8. Adada! (an exclamation in Tamil that means nothing in particular)

Eight books I have read recently:

  1. Mean Business, by Albert J. Dunlap
  2. Trent’s Last Case, by E.C. Bentley
  3. A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge
  4. How Paul Robeson Saved My Life and Other Mostly Happy Stories, by Carl Reiner
  5. The Google Story, by David A. Vise
  6. The Search, by John Battelle
  7. No Comebacks, by Frederick Forsyth
  8. The Financial Expert, by R.K. Narayan

Eight songs I could listen to over and over

(Really tough one. You realize eight is such a small number.)

  1. Pachelbel’s Canon, performed by James Galway
  2. Koluvamaaregada, performed by Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar
  3. Endharo Mahanubhavulu, performed by Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar
  4. English Note, performed by Madurai Mani Iyer
  5. Koththumbi from Thiruvaasagam, by Ilaiyaraja
  6. Chera Raavademira, performed by Alathur Brothers
  7. Handel’s Xerxes/Serse (Largo), performed by James Galway
  8. Aadamodi Galadhe, performed by M.S. Subbulakshmi

(I’m writing a post for each song in my mind, as I type.)

Eight things that attract me to my friends

Aw! This is incredibly tough! Pass! (If you are a friend and you happen to read this, help me.)

I must pass this misery on to four other unsuspecting friends. I tag the usual suspects: KG, Gokul, Selva and Shanky.
