… best expresses a mixture of happiness and melancholy. Probably why it towers all other raagas when it comes to expressing a sense of intense longing, passionate yearning.

Example songs?
“Aadamodi Galadhe” is a personal favourite of mine.
“Manmadha leelaiyai vendraar undo” is also based on Charukeshi.
“Thoodhu selvathaaradi” comes to my mind on that blend…
A good example of Charukeshi raagam that I could think is the rendition of KJ Yesudas in Sri Raghavendra….”Aadal Kalaiye Deivam thanthau…”
If you want to listen to raaga which has passionate yearning is Vanaspathi raaga….Hear the Thyaraja composition on “Pariyachakama raama”…Hear to voice of Maharajapuram Ramachandran / Santhanam….
Praveen: Yes. I recently discovered that “Vasantha Mullai Polae Vandhu” (from
PokkiriSaarangadhaara) is also based on Charukeshi.Kannan: Thanks for the recommendation. I listened to Pariyachakama on MusicIndiaOnline. Liked it very much. (Link to song)
