Ashok, the point is not whether she has achieved enough or not. The primary concern is her ability to stand up for herself.

I think you're being simplistic on the "Page 3 diva" point. Dr. Kalam was not Page 3 before he came to occupy Rashtrapati Bhavan. And yet, he had near unanimous backing, and the support of the common man.

Even as to her achievements, everywhere we are only told she held this ministry or that, and not what she accomplished with her power (other than swindle unsuspecting villagers, and shield relatives from murder trials).

I dunno what else one should expect from a Presendential candidate. The President is not selected by a Grad school admission committee for sure, to make it necessary for her CV to be more "imaginative". She was the youngest MLA elected and she has never lost a single election till 1985, after which she was elected to Rajya Sabha, and became the governor in 2004, things that are definitely more than 'worthwile acheivements' for any woman in this country. Perhaps, some ppl would hav been more comfortable with a Page 3 diva as a Presedential candidate, whose charities and hospitals would have been more than a "passing mention". You should have read more about the woman welfare organisations, charities etc that she has set up and the extra curricular activities she was involved during her college days before comin up with this.

Perhaps it would make more sense to me if you listed out the kind of qualities and acheivements that you think a Pres candidate should have.

It is an open secret that "The Hindu" is pro-UPA, pro-DMK. The journalistic(are they?) pieces by Mr Harish Khare and the editorials of Mr N Ram are perfect examples of this.
