Google Earth and Katrina

When Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast almost a year ago, people across the country and around the world wondered how to help. Many donated money; others lent their homes to dislocated survivors. A group of Googlers lent their expertise by leveraging the power of Google technology.

  1. A similar techie software was also used in the aftermath of Dec 26 Tsunami to trace victims. A team from our alma mater, led by CN Krishnan (hope you’ve heard about CNK) did some work at Nagapattinam to re-unite families using a software. This is the Hindu article link.

  2. Hi All Experts,
    Does anyone use google earth images as ground image planes for use in aerial scenes. I know how to stitch them together but are there any tools or tricks to make sure that the images are at the same height, angle and such to make sure they stitch well. I know in the pro version you can get bigger images but im not going to pay for the pro version when i could stitch multiple images together…
